An installation by @fracazototal x Ofrenda Studio. How does the experience of growing up queer in rural Mexico shapes the hopes and dreams about love and freedom?
SUEÑO DE BODA // veils that may never be worn, dreams that may never come true.
Restricted teaching, rigid mentality. School festivals, folk dancing. Strolling around the plaza and the courtship that never occurred. The desire to live the teenage queer love in a rural world. The unisex sports uniform. Agricultural pursuits and rural beauty pageants. Catholicism. The implanted dream of marriage and the white bridal gown. A wedding, a family.
Good or bad? Better or worse? Queer or not queer? A healthy life? Deprived ambitions? Poverty? Machismo? Do we have to get married? Does love exist?
Merely a list of life events that shape and define a person. The education, the environment. Every experience. Our own interpretation of this existence, transformed in the possibility of the freedom to be yourself. Here, now.
Showing at @lagunamx as part of “Disidencias”, a series of events dedicated to celebrating all LGBTQ+ identities 🏳️🌈
